“Sexteen” was written in 1978 in Seattle, when I was living on a friend's couch on Seattle's Capitol Hill. It was written from the standpoint of a street kid, whose story is fleshed out in the song. I was listening to "Lust For Life," "LAMF" and "Suicide," records that were a large part of the soundtrack of my life at the time and a lot of that rubbed off, I think.
